Smart Bites!

How long did I think this party would last?

Yup, up again. I would rather not disclose how much and really I’m not completely sure (I’ll know more later at weigh in). This is exactly what happens to me when I get too comfortable with how I’m doing and think, “aahhh this one piece of chocolate, Chinese, pizza, etc. won’t effect my weight loss efforts”. While a bit of that once in a while wouldn’t kill me (I mean after all you have to live), eating/thinking like this on a daily basis is BOUND to catch up to you sooner or later. Later is here. BUT, I think I have caught it in time, this time, and realizing that is half the battle.

I have committed myself to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which is 39 miles over two days and I am running the J.P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge 3.5k again this year. So training and eating right is on the menu from here on out!

I have a friend who is a triathlete who is willing to help me with my training and eating, so that will be a big help!

All or nothing

When am I going to learn to stop taking that all or nothing approach with things? Take for example my weight loss efforts. I’ve been watching quite a few of Roni’s videos over at http://ronisweigh.com. She talked about looking at each meal like a new chance to start over. So even if you screwed up a bit with breakfast with some eggs benedict or you slipped and had a cheeseburger and fries for lunch, this is not an open ticket to say screw it and eat unhealthy for your next meal. You then get a snowball effect and we all know how that goes. I am sooo guilty of this. Roni also talks about being “on plan” and being off and how there is no “off plan”. Everything you eat is “on plan”, whether it’s a healthy choice or not. I need to get that in my head. All my food choices count. None of this, “I’ll start again tomorrow, I want to be bad tonight” crap that I am known for. I also need to remember to cut myself some slack so that if I do screw up, I can acknowledge it and move on!

I got my bike!

No, not the vroom-vroom kind, a mountain bike. I’m so excited! It’s been quite some time since I’ve been on a bike. I’m not going to lie, one of the reasons I got this one, in addition to the disk breaks and front shock is the fact that it is very cool looking. I don’t think this pic does it justice. The design on it looks like a henna tattoo! If I can find a close-up I will post it.

After we picked them up on Saturday, we went for a “short” ride. An hour and a half and 8 miles later, we got back to the car! Wow, what a workout!

If I can keep this up a few days a week, I’ll be in shape in no time flat!

Vroom vroom...

Guess who got their motorcycle permit last night? That’s right, yours truly!! I’ll be signing up for the training class soon. Hopefully they still have a few spots left. Not quite as good exercise for me as the peddle bike, but I’m sure still a good workout!

A little theme work

Doing a bit of work on the tumbler theme. I know it doesn’t exactly go with the topic right now, but I’m just messing with the css to see what I can get. What I need is a tiled image of broccoli or watermelons along the top!

Yo-yo

Last week down .8. This week up 1.8. Aaaahhhhggg. Can I not catch a break or what? I blame it all on the 4th of July and a two for one special on Lays potato chips that a certain someone could not resist getting for our camping trip. He should know by now that potato chips are my nemesis (along with ice-cream :-).

That’s ok. I just got a call that my new mountain bike just came in and I can’t wait to ride it all over the place. I’ll be rid of these x-tra pounds in no time flat!

Ran/walked in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge yesterday. My very first race! Only 3 miles, but you have to start somewhere, right? Not the most flattering picture, but hey, it was not the most flattering shirt (thanks Mark ;-) I think they call the color putty?

Whoo Hoo!

I lost 3.2 lbs this week!!!! I guess the switch to Flex really paid off. I am back at my 14.4 lb total lost. Now I just have to hold on to it and keep going. I guess mixing it up every once in a while is a good idea. It helps you to refocus on what you are doing and how much you are really eating.

One small bump in the road… I went to see an Orthopedist about my knees which have been bothering me on and off for about 8 yrs now. He had me get MRI’s on both knees which he read the results of yesterday. Looks like I may have synovial plical irritation as well as Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (runners knee). HUH??

He decided it would be best for him to do an arthroscopic evaluation to see what’s going on inside :-( In other words SURGERY! According to him and everyone I’ve talked to so far, the procedure is a piece of cake and I will only be on crutches for a few days. If it goes well, then I will have the right knee done too.

Keep your finders crossed. Pretty soon I will be unstoppable (and partially bionic :-)!
